David Atkinson

I am a PhD student at Northeastern University, advised by David Bau and supported by the NSF Computer and Information Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship. My research revolves around interpreting large language models, with a particular focus on understanding model introspection and self-reports.

Before starting the PhD, I worked as a software engineer at an agricultural startup, and then as a researcher at Epoch, investigating when and how we should expect advanced AI capabilities to arrive. I majored in Math and Computer Science at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where I did NLP research advised by Chenhao Tan.
